Chili Party

Chili Party A Success!

Chili Cookoff
The 7th Annual MMC Chili Cook Off was a Huge Success
The Manchester Mothers' Club held it's annual "Chili Cook Off" Fundraiser on November 14th at the Rhumbline in Gloucester. With fabulous raffles to be won, some of the best home made chili around and a live band - this year's event was one to be beat.

This year, the Mother's club chose to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund ("JDRF"). Currently, eleven families in the Manchester/Essex School System are affected by this chronic debilitating disease.  Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.3 billion to diabetes research.  The Mother's club is proud to support JDRF as they continue to work to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Special thanks to all of the wonderful cooks who made chili for the event. Without them this fundraiser would not be possible. Also, thanks to our wonderful fund raising team, Cathy Costello, Sue Kent, and Deb Wood, who hit the pavement for weeks and managed to get some really great raffle prizes for our members.
This year's chili winner was Rachael Bagenstase who took home the grand prize of a two night stay at the beautiful Rockport Inn & Suites.   Rachael 's chili  "Gone in 60 Seconds" was delicious!  AriAnna Harvey won the prize for best named chili, "Organically Orgasmic"!

Thanks to our corporate sponsor, Viacord, all the local businesses who provided raffle prizes, Mother's Club members, and community members who made this event possible.  The support for JDRF was incredible.  What a fun night!

Start Planning Now for Preschool in the Fall

Considering preschool for your child? Now is the best time to gather information and learn more about area schools for the 2009-2010 school year. Although most schools accept children throughout the year if space is available, January through March are typically the months when schools begin to look at how many children are currently enrolled, the number of openings they will have for the following year, and reviewing applications for new students.

Once again, the MMC has put together a list of local preschools with contact information, days and hours, tuition, and other basic information. While the list is not exhaustive it includes several schools along the North Shore for which we were able to gather information. This information will be updated on a regular basis.

If you know of a preschool that we have not included please contact Susan Croft with the word "Preschool" in the subject line.

Beyond the listing we found two articles on the Web that might be helpful.
